| Overview
This beautiful Danish capital is dominated by canals, lakes and
the sea as a reminder of the town’s heritage as a major
Baltic port. Cruise ships dock either at the Freeport Terminal
or at Langelinie pier, centrally located within walking distance
of the famous Little Mermaid and the city centre, in which a range
of cafes, outlets and a dedicated cruise information centre can
be located.
Kings and Tsars
As the town is easy to get around and small enough for the attractions
to be closer together, Copenhagen offers an ideal opportunity
to stretch your legs either on foot or bicycle. Adjacent to Langelinie
pier, there is the old military fortification of Kastellet to
start the day with, or if you prefer to sit back and relax whilst
learning about the history of the city there are regular canal
boat tours, lasting around 50 minutes with multilingual tour guides.
Modern Architecture & Design
The historic experiences offered by Copenhagen’s past are
complemented by spectacular modern gems of architecture that you
can easily explore on your own. A sensational sight such as the
Black Diamond, a stunning extension of the Royal Library, is just
one of the many examples of grand design in the city. The Danish
Design Centre, located directly across from the Tivoli Gardens,
is a great way to experience most of it in a short period of time. |
